About Frame of Mind
Frame of Mind is a small, independent site for curious people who love films, big ideas, and understanding themselves and the world a little better. It was built around a simple belief: that philosophy, psychology, and serious film criticism do not need to be difficult or distant. They can be written in plain language, grounded in real life, and still be honest about the complexity underneath.
The five pillars
Everything we publish falls into one of five categories. Film & TV looks at what stories are actually doing beneath the surface, from craft and character to the ideas a film is wrestling with. Philosophy takes classic and contemporary questions out of the textbook and applies them to ordinary decisions and everyday doubts. Psychology explores how the mind works, why people behave the way they do, and what the research actually supports. Books & Ideas is where we sit with the works and thinkers worth knowing, in essays meant to be read slowly. Life & Meaning is where it all comes together, connecting film, philosophy, and psychology to the practical question of how to live.
Who Frame of Mind is for
This site is for the viewer who wants more than a plot summary, the reader who likes their ideas explained rather than name-dropped, and anyone who has ever finished a film or a book and wanted to talk about what it actually meant. It is for beginners who want a clear way in, and for people already familiar with these subjects who appreciate writing that respects their time.
How we work
We hold our writing to a straightforward standard: it should be well researched, clearly reasoned, and honest about where an idea is settled and where it is still debated. When an interpretation is our own reading of a film or a book, we say so plainly rather than presenting opinion as fact. We also revisit older pieces and update them when we find a clearer or more accurate way to explain something.
Independent and reader-first
Frame of Mind is independent. Our essays and analysis reflect our own thinking and honest opinions, not the priorities of a sponsor. We do not publish paid content disguised as editorial. If we ever use advertising to help cover the cost of running the site, we keep it clearly separate from the writing you come here to read. Questions and ideas are always welcome at contact@ibnbatoutaweb.com.
